As I stated on the home page, I love seeing the light bulb come on and somebody “get it” all of a sudden. The hope of spreading that feeling, even if not from a classroom (yet), is what underlies this site.
My name is Darrell Glover and I love math. I am an officer in the United States Air Force currently stationed at Thule AB, Greenland. Yes, I said Greenland and yes it is cold here.
I graduated from Fresno State University in 2006 with a B.A. in Mathematics (of course) and I’m getting close to finishing my M.A. in Education from Michigan State University.

I have been married to my exceptionally understanding wife, Danelle, for 13 years and we have four super –awesome kiddos. Bredon is the oldest; he is ridiculously tall, ridiculously smart, and ridiculously emotional for a 10 year old. Tyler, 8, is the budding jock – all he wants to do is play; also very smart but we’d have more luck getting him to sit through major dental surgery than getting him to do his homework. Next is Reagan, 6; she’s one of the kindest, friendliest, most thoughtful and emotionally intelligent people I’ve ever met (including adults). Last, but certainly not least, is Laila, 4; she’s a bigger handful than the other three combined – a hilarious personality all her own and leading candidate to be our tattooed, punk-rock chick.
But, what about math? Isn’t this site for teachers? You didn’t say anything about teaching?
Nope, I’m not a teacher. I do plan to teach as my next profession (yes, I believe teaching is a profession, not simply a job) when I eventually leave the crazy life of the military. I have done some tutoring though.
But, while teachers will definitely find these tools useful for their classrooms, I can recommend a lot of these tools as a parent as well. My oldest, especially, has played with many of these tools and resources even though they’re mostly about algebra and geometry (like I said, ridiculously smart).
I have immense respect for teachers and for the struggles they face to educate the future generations and I have immense respect for the parents struggling to raise intelligent citizens. Education is truly a gateway to a better life and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) subjects will only become more important as the future becomes increasingly technological.
Hopefully, some of what’s on this site will help you in that quest.
